It's Officer Brandon Tatum, former police officer and now truth teller on all the social media platforms, huge audiences everywhere. We're so excited to talk to you and get to know you better. And we know that you obviously used to be in law enforcement. But what we don't know is how you made this shift from that career to political commentator. Yeah, well, thank you guys to have me on. I love your show. I followed you guys a while back. You guys were saying incredible things and I'm like, I love these ladies. |
| 1:12.3 | And I have to follow us. And I can't wait to go on that show one day. So I'm happy to be here. Very sweet. It wasn't a playing thing. You know, I didn't think I would ever leave law enforcement. I thought I was going to, you know, be the chief of police somewhere. I was hoping for Tucson. and you know I built my whole career on saying I'm going to serve until the day I retire. But then I began to be political. You know, when I started out as a cop, I voted for Barack Obama. I thought I was a Democrat. And over time, a lot of my friends were, you know, convincing me through giving me true information that I could not refute, convinced me that I was probably more of a Republican than a Democrat. |
| 1:18.3 | And so over time, I just became more politically involved. |
| 1:21.1 | I went to a Trump rally, which was his first rally he did in Tucson. |
| 1:25.7 | After my shift, I did the night shift, stayed up. I said, |
| 1:28.3 | I'm just going to see what it's like. They say this guy's a racist and he's going to throw black people out. But, you know, I know that as a former police officer, that I have to weigh both sides. I can't just go off of what people say. So I said, let me go check him out, see what Donald Trump is all about. And I loved it. I mean, it was great. It was a great event. |
| 1:46.6 | And the people who were the maniacs were... So I said, let me go check him out, see what Donald Trump is all about. And I loved it. I mean, it was great. |
| 1:44.8 | It was a great event. And the people who were the maniacs were the ones who were on the left who were protesting him. And they're trying to, you know, block the doors off and cussing at people. I mean, it was, it was a lot different than what I expected. and I thought the things that he was saying were things that I agree with, the border, all the stuff he's saying right now. And so I made a video |
| 2:06.5 | online, didn't think nothing of it, went to sleep, and woke up and I had 30 missed calls. |
| 2:13.0 | The police department called me, Sean Hannity's show. I mean, I had never watched Fox before, So I didn't know who Sean Hannity was. Oh my gosh. I didn't know who Bill O'Reilly was. I didn't know what Fox and Friends was. And so I was like, what is happening? You know, and I thought I was going to get fired. I had no idea it was about that video I made. So after a while, I caught on and I was like, oh, oh, crap, it was that video. |
| 2:53.7 | And actually in the video, I said some crazy stuff. You know, I didn't think nobody would see it, right? So it was a guy that got beat up. And I said, that's what he gets. He deserved to get beat up. And I'm like, man, I'm a cop. How am I going to say that? So anyway, that led to me being more vocal online. |
| 2:54.0 | I wasn't really a social media person, but I said, you know what? |
| 2:57.3 | I think my opinions have value. |
| 2:59.2 | So I'm just going to keep giving my opinions live. |
| 3:01.8 | I didn't edit videos or nothing. |
| 3:03.2 | So I just went live every time I wanted to say something. |
| 3:05.9 | And then in 2017, Colin Kaepernick video came out, or at least he had nailed for the National Anthem, and I got sick of it. So I made a video in my car, and it went mega viral. It had 70 million views. Oh, my gosh. Then I got offered a job from a company in Anthem, Arizona. And I said, you know what, what do I have to lose? Let me give it a try. It was only supposed to be a year. If I didn't like it, I'd go back to being a cop. You know, if it was for me, then, you know, I'll see where God wanted to take me. And I met Candace Owens, and we became really good friends, and I just never went back to policing and then the rest |
| 3:41.6 | is history. |
| 3:42.7 | Do you miss it? |
| 3:44.1 | I miss it a little bit. |
| 3:45.3 | You know, you got to think policing was fun. |
| 3:47.9 | I mean, I know it's dangerous, but that's also the adrenaline part of it. |
