The During the 1970s, during the 1970s, Italian's trendiest horror filmmaker Darrio Argento

had enjoyed huge success with his first few films. Movies like The Bird with the Crystal Plumage and

deep red were violent gory mystery thrillers which sat firmly in the tradition

However, in 1977, Arjanto veered away from the traditional procedural format of the Jello

and towards somewhere more supernatural and experimental. his next two movies focused on witchcraft and the occult.
