Summary

This episode, we're so excited to be joined by the legend, Eliza Clark! The Boy Parts author will be telling us all about their love of Drag Race. Taking an adoring yet critical look at the TV franchise, Eliza will be chatting to us about why we should look beyond the US and UK versions and give the international iterations a chance. We'll also be discussing the shows handling of gender, class, and whether its time Ru let another queen take the top judging spot. Ione, Olivia, and Eliza will also be chatting about the commercialisation of drag following the infamous H&M comments in UKDR season two, whether being polished is all it takes to be a good queen, and how the international versions arguably allow more space for creativity.

Every other week we'll be picking the brain of a different creative about something they admire that has nothing to do with how they generate their income.

I am Iione and I'm the founder and editor-in-chief of Polyester Online Inprint and everywhere else. And I'm Olivia, the co-host, producer, and editor of the podcast. We publish weekly episodes with the Sleepover Club one week and Obsessions the next. This week, it's the obsessions episode where we talk to a person we admire about something they're obsessed with that has nothing to do of how they generate their income. And next week it's the Sleepover Club where Ioni and I have all those gorge conversations you'd usually have with your girl mates at a sleepover. So, we have no new reviews today, but that's because we're recording this intro a little bit in advance so if you'd like to

make our day please go and leave us a review and we'll read it out on the show and I will give you

1:14.2

In Liverpool, God I'm so used to say in that.

1:17.2

Queer culture in the UK and also just like what that the difference is between America.

1:22.7

I think it's really just and I think the reason that it's done really well is because a lot of accessing your

1:30.0

queer self is this like club and performance culture. And so not having that as made, like,

1:37.0

I basically got in drag with my housemate. And it was the first time in like eight months. I was like,

1:42.3

oh my God, I haven't like accessed this part of me that, yeah, you get to an age where you're like going to clubs isn't what makes me queer. Yeah. But when you are literally in the house all the time and you get dressed up, it like assimilates that feeling. So yeah, we won't talk too much about it. But our is eliza clark or the of the fabulous book boy parts
