My name is Maddie Watts and I am currently an emergency medicine PGI2.

This is the first episode of my new series called Surviving Your Off Service.

As some of you may know, intern years spent partially in the ED but with a lot of time working on other services, like OBGYN,

0:22.4

orthopedics, and trauma surgery. This is a series that I've thought about doing pretty much as soon as

0:28.8

I started my intern year. I thought, wouldn't it be nice to have some quick refresher to listen to

and it's really hard to distill down to just a few 10 to 15-minute

1:29.1

podcasts. I mean, there's a reason why there's whole residences in these other specialties.

1:34.4

Furthermore, I am not an OB-GYN or a trauma surgeon or an orthopod, so who am I to be the one

1:41.1

to teach you about how to succeed in these specialties?

1:50.2

Ultimately, I decided that my emergency medicine perspective is actually the unique value of this podcast. This is not going to be a comprehensive review of everything you need to know or
