Hey there, I'm so glad you stopped by for this podcast. We hope so much we can serve you today.

All right, let's look at Romans chapter 7. Verse 4, So my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ

that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead in order that we might bear fruit to God. Verse 5,

For when we were controlled by the sinful nature, the sinful passions aroused by the law where it worked in our bodies,

so that we bore fruit for death. And I hope this brings to mind last week's lesson, boy did we hop on this and the week before.

Verse 6, But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the spirit,

and not in the old way of the written code. I want to read that again.

We serve in the new way of the spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.

Now, I'm going to tell you what I'm about to do. I am about to camp on that verse that I just read. Verse 6,

we're about to camp on it and we're about to turn it into its own topical study for today. And I'll tell you why.

And I pray that I was in the spirit when I was feeling led this direction. I pray it's of God and it's going to bless us today.

But I'm going to tell you, we have been giving very significant attention to the fact that we have died in our old man under the law of Adam and been made alive in the spirit.

We've given quite a lot of attention to it lately. And so I want to take a little bit of a detour here because the next lesson,

we have the portion in Romans chapter 7 that says, what I want to do, I somehow don't end up doing all the tremendous torment that the mind and soul can go through that war within.

So we have that coming, knowing what we've camped on, and knowing what we have coming.

I have chosen as your teacher and hopefully filled and led by the spirit to take a slight little detour because I think it would be a little bit of relief.

If we have had some intense stuff here recently, and I bless the Lord for it, but I really want to take a little bit of a detour based on Romans chapter 7, verse 6, that talks about serving in the new way of the spirit and not in the old way of the written code.

So stay with me here and let's see what God would speak to out of this. I want you to hear, and it's on your listing guide, I want you to see as well, the amplified version, it's going to, of course, express some of the original language to us, the amplified version of verse 6 because it's going to lead out on our entire theme today.

It says this. So now, now remember, this is what I just read to you in the NIV, in verse 6, now I'm reading out of the amplified, it says, so now we serve not under obedience to the old code of written regulations, but under obedience to the promptings that your blank, the promptings of the spirit and newness of life, to the promptings of the spirit and newness of life.

Now here's the reason why I want to camp here in some coming weeks, particularly I'm thinking in terms of Romans chapter 8, where we get into the spirit bearing witness, Romans 9, verse 1, that talks about something being confirmed in the spirit, we're going to get into some of this of how it is we actually walk in the spirit rather than in the law.

Knowing where we're going, I'd like us to have some background that we're going to build on and I tell you why it is absolutely crucial, my heart's desire, my jealousy for the body of Christ is to see all of us, myself and all of you who profess Christ's Savior, really walk the thing out in the reality of our own lives and challenges.

And a very important part of this walk is beginning to learn how to obey the personal promptings of the spirit to you.
