On this Thursday, somewhat quietly the Trump administration has redefined the culpability of

undocumented migrants. Now all of them are being described as lawbreakers. That designation

will drive the American left, including most of the media,

absolutely nuts. And President Trump enjoys doing that. But there is a practical reason why this is happening.

With perhaps as many as 14 million folks without proper credentials, the President understands

federal agencies cannot adjudicate every personal circumstance.

For example, if a migrant felon, a hardcore criminal, is married to someone with a clean

record, what happens to the spouse when the criminal

is deported? Under the new policy, they both go. And so do the kids, unless a lawyer steps

in, if the children are born in the United States, they have a right to stay. But if their

parents leave, both of them, they should go right to stay. But if their parents leave, both of them,

they should go with the parents. But that's got to be voluntary. Now, crossing into the USA illegally

remains a civil offense on the books, like a traffic beef. I expect Congress is going to change

that, as most other countries in the world apply criminal penalties

to a legal entry. Try crossing into Mexico without a proper ID. Jail awaits and not a nice jail.
