Summary

The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 1

3:05pm- On Saturday, Yevgeniy Prigozhin—leader of the Russian paramilitary organization known as the Wagner Group—briefly marched towards Moscow in a reported attempt to overthrow Vladimir Putin’s regime. According to The Washington Post, “[i]nternal tensions between Prigozhin and Russian military leaders have been simmering for months over what Prigozhin believed were leadership failures within the military. Prigozhin accused Russian generals of stonewalling his ammunition requests…The dispute reached a boiling point Friday when Prigozhin accused Russian forces of conducting a strike on his fighters at an encampment in Ukraine.” After speaking with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Prigozhin agreed to halt his march in exchange for amnesty. You can read more about the internal Russian dispute here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2023/06/24/russia-wagner-prigozhin-insurrection-explained/

3:10pm- According to reports, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection is considering rules that would require some of the city’s most famous pizzerias to cut carbon emissions by 75%—specifically targeting coal-fired and wood-fired pizza ovens, citing pollutants released during the cooking process.

3:30pm- While appearing on State of the Union with Dana Bash, Secretary of State Antony Blinken was asked if the Biden Administration was hoping for regime change in Russia. Blinken said, “these are decisions for the Russian people, and this entire chapter is an internal matter."

3:50pm- In today’s Wall Street Journal, Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy wrote an editorial condemning the Espionage Act—calling it “one of the most un-American laws Congress ever enacted.” You can read Ramaswamy’s full piece here: https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-espionage-acts-ugly-un-american-history-trump-spies-leakers-law-america-dissent-c9ab63f7?mod=opinion_lead_pos6
