Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Rylan Barton. There seems to be little common ground

over funding the Department of Homeland Security ahead of Friday's midnight deadline when it

faces a partial government shutdown. Democrats and some Republicans are

demanding changes to immigration enforcement. Here's House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries.

They lied to the American people. The Trump administration is not targeting violent felons.

They're targeting American citizens, communities throughout

this country, and law-abiding immigrant families. Jeffreys has called for banning federal

agents from wearing masks and requiring judicial warrants before making arrests. The Trump

administration is urging Americans to get vaccinated against measles as

outbreaks spread across the states. NPR's Maria Godoy reports on remarks by Dr. Mehmet Oz.

Oz's comments came Sunday during an interview on CNN State of the Union. When asked what

his message about the measles vaccine is, Oz replied,

Take the vaccine, please. We have a solution for a problem. Not all illnesses are equally dangerous

and not all people equally susceptible to those illnesses, but measles is one you should get your

vaccine. Oz is the head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. He denied that the

Trump administration's actions have undermined confidence in vaccines,

and he argued that his boss, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has been supportive of the measles vaccine.

Kennedy has a long history of being skeptical of the safety and efficacy of vaccines.
