It is Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

And for those of you who do not speak Japanese,

Ohio Gosemus means good morning.

And what a good morning it has been.

If you were awake at 3 a.m. Pacific time, you got a chance to watch 10 minutes of

pregame, a little intro done by broadcasters who did not make the trip, who were doing the

game from the comfort of a studio, not in Japan. You watched first pitch, Shohe Otani,

lead off the season, and we are underway.

I must say that the game has changed in a way that I'm uncomfortable with, and it seems to be the analytic love affair that starting pitchers can't pitch.

Spring training, I was taught year one, first meeting with first GM Jim Beattie,

World Series winning pitcher for the New York Yankees.

First meeting, spring training.

This is the time that we watch our pitchers build so that game one of the season,

they're ready to go 90 plus pitches, six plus innings. And it wasn't just Jim Beattie. Every single

GM pitching coach, manager, and we had our share of managers and pitching coaches,

spring training was meant to build up your pitching staff.

Now, you could argue we're in the middle of March, but the Cubs and the Dodgers opened

spring training early. And you had a matchup of Yamamoto against Imenaga,

Japanese pitcher against Japanese pitcher.
