And what's driving the day as this week comes to a close is the absolute torrent of announcements coming from President-elect Donald Trump as he seeks to fill out his administration.

Now, if that sounds awfully similar to what drove the day yesterday and the day before that,

there's a reason for this.

Trump has cornered the market in Washington's attention economy,

aided in no small part by some truly surprising prospective nominees.

Fox News personality Pete Hegseth for the Department of Defense, former

Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence, Matt Gates for Attorney General,

and the latest scorched-ruth nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr. were Secretary of Health and Human

Services. Kennedy endorsed Trump earlier this year after ending his own quixotic bid for the

White House, which was notable for his use of the bully pulpit to advance disproven and false

information about vaccines and other key pillars of public health, including water fluoridation.

Trump's choices for other critical administration positions seem tamed by comparison, and to be

fair, there are many relatively

conventional picks, not only Senator Marco Rubio for State or at least Stefanik for a UN ambassador,

but also two announcements made last night, former Congressman Doug Collins for the Department

of Veterans Affairs, and North Dakota Governor Doug Bergam for Interior. But those names are below the

fold compared to Robert F. Kennedy. Politico-national political correspondent Meredith McGrath
