Let's open our Bibles to our study of 2 Timothy verses 6 through 8 in chapter 1.

I would remind you that at the writing of this the apostle

Paul is facing death. But before he exits this world having fulfilled

faithfully that which God commissioned him to do, he writes this letter to his beloved son in the

faith to encourage Timothy to carry on. Timothy, as we have been learning, was a bit on the

timid or meek side, tended to be easily intimidated by those who were

opposing him, whether in the church or outside the church, and perhaps was in a time at the very

writing of this epistle when he desperately needed to be strengthened
