This is hell and for those of you who aren't sure exactly what that phrase means,

Whistling by the graveyard, it refers to when you talk or act as if you are

relaxed and confident when in reality you are filled with anxiety and fear which is

what our guest suggests our guest today suggests is happening right now when it comes to not only

those involved in January 6th, but the decades of extremist movement, militia movement building that preceded the attack on the

U.S. Capitol. While we all may wish that violent and potentially deadly movement to disappear,

it's not, in hoping it will is not a great strategy if you want to reign in such extremism.

Of course, not all militant groups are violent and deadly.

Despite being like-minded, they vary greatly from one group to another.

What they do generally share in common is a collective belief in the national mythos of the

United States, as our guests today observed.

They believe in a nostalgic past, a past that never existed, as many of our guests on our show

have been arguing since we started airing our show way back in the late 20th century.

In studying and researching militias, we can have a better understanding of how to avoid a potential threat to the public.

What has changed is not that the current militias

are any more or less fervent politically than in the past, but that they have become more

willing to publicly espouse their hate-filled views.

For far too long academic research avoided any analysis of militias

despite their potential for danger to the public.
