Northern Mexican journalist and radio host, Edna Martinez, chats about arts, culture and

politics on episode 13, Season 2 of Music Matters with Darryl Craig Harris.

Hello Edna, how are you doing today?

Hi Darryl, I'm very, very glad and very happy to stay here with you and talk to you.

Glad you can join me. We met maybe I guess last year through our mutual friend Viery Solos,

who's also a journalist and reporter in Mexico. And then you're, so now you are in Guatemala,

Mexico, correct? Yeah, that's correct. I work for the radio.

You're at the University Station, which is actually like a public radio station, right?

And then commercial radio station would be like for the music, but they do the advertising.

Yes, that's exactly how you say it. And we got this big responsibility to speak to our community

about topics that it's not about that or talking in other radios or in other spaces for media.

So we generate a content that are different, and we try to offer to the people another vision

or a version of the things that happen in our country. Yeah, and you cover, you've been doing,

how many years for doing radio for you? How many, how many years?

Oh, I'm already over 20 years working. Yeah, I started when I was nearly 20, 20 years.

And I started a newspaper in a local newspaper. And the most of my career I was working,

I work, I used to work in the newspaper. And the short periods of my career, I do radio.

But now I only do radio more than writing. I keep writing every day because we have a

news portal with a friend. So every day I'm doing news, but not like the rhythm of the paper.

Do you prefer, do you prefer a radio or are doing writing? Or is it kind of, they're both kind

of different, I guess. I think I got, I got both, both, both, both, both works. I love it.

Write every day. I can live without writing. I love writing. It's like a discipline,
