Welcome to you, whoever you are, whether you are a new listener or a returning

friend. Thank you for putting some attention here. I don't know when you're listening to this.

If it's the morning of its publication, well, then it's the day before the

2024 U.S. presidential election.

And you wouldn't know that from listening to this show because it's not something that I've been talking about,

which I consider a point of personal pride and practice, frankly,

because if you go far enough back into the archives, you'll hear me waxing poetic about whatever's going on in the world

and often I would say in a somewhat reckless manner

because they just wasn't thinking through

what I wanted to say to people before I said it

and that's sort of the format of these intros and

outros for this show. I don't script any of this. I spend a little time contemplating where

I'm at and checking in. And sometimes I've got a little bit of an idea of this or that that I

might want to talk about, but I definitely don't write it out. And then I hit record and we just we just talk.

I try to talk into this mic the way that I would talk to my best friend.

And what happens happens.

And I think in the past sometimes, and I've discussed this before,

I was just like too late at night and I'm too tired.

And so what would come out was just like raw and just not clear.
