Hey guys, here we are back on normally this show with normalish takes for when the news gets weird here in the second week of the new Trump administration.

Mary Catherine, I will tell you that when you go to dinner and you don't look at your phone for three hours,

and Donald Trump decides that America is taking over Gaza, you'll return to 1,100 texts.

And our friend Bethany Mandel calling me, like, as I'm still, like, I haven't looked at my phone yet.

And she's like, can you believe this? And I was like, what? And she's like, are you messing

with me? Like, you really haven't seen that? You really don't know? I don't know what she's

about to tell me. And she's like, yeah, Trump announced that the U.S. is taking over Gaza. I did not see that one coming. I got to tell you. I was on special report last night on

Fox News and I was asked to comment on the press conference before the press conference began.

And I just think I prefer that position to being thrown on right after he said that. Because,

yeah, I needed a minute to process that, as did many people.

So now we're in the next day of the U.S. taking over Gaza news cycle.

No processing.

I mean, for sure.

You know, what's so interesting.

So we record the day before the show was released. And on Monday,

when we were recording Tuesday's episode, we made a conscious decision not to talk about the

tariffs because we said, who knows if this will still be going on tomorrow? We had that vibe.

And we were 100% right. By the next day, the tariff threat had ended. And, you know,

people were selling shirts like, I survived the trade war. And it was the one day trade war.
