Today we are sitting down with Chief Sumo himself, Noah Kagan. Thanks so much for being on the show today, Noah. Dude, thank you for having me. I've got like the colors of your background on my head. Yep, I love it, bro. You're in Pirate mode today. So, dude, a lot of people know who you are online. You've had a lot of success in business. but for those that don't know who you are, can've had a lot of success in business but for those

that don't know who you are can you give a little bit of context as to you know sort of what you've done

0:42.5

in business just give a little mini resume so to speak so that people can get to know you and we'll

0:47.2

get into your story a little bit and how you got into entrepreneurship and sort of rode the roller

0:51.1

coaster of the ups and downs to success.

Shit, man.

It only takes 10 years. I believe in the 10 year rule is that if you want to get rich, you just do it, whatever you do, just do it 10 years and you'll get rich. That's true. My journey started out. I was a cubicle monkey at Intel. That was the best I could find. And I hated that work. And I've always wanted to run my own show. so I got lucky I was number 30 at Facebook.com, which everyone uses now. And then I was number four at mint.com, which sold for 200 million. And then I created a few other businesses that were all seven figures. Not everyone worked. The ones I tell you about were seven figures, but many, many did not work. But I did Facebook games. I did payments for Facebook games.

And then the biggest company I've been able to create with the team is called app sumo.com. It's a $30 million business. It's the number one site online for software deals. We have two other properties that I'd suggest for audience. If they're trying to grow their brands, they're trying to grow a community, We have sendfox.com, which is the number one place to grow audiences, like, you know, with an email list and Hall Drop, which is the number one site online to promote products. So if you create an e-commerce product, go promote it for free on hauldrop.com. And we'll put links for all those so people can check those out below. Now, before, when you got into entrepreneurship online, before you became a cubicle, like, slave, so to speak, how would you at that time? You know, one thing that I was thinking about, I was talking with a YouTube name Ali Abdul, and I think if any, everyone out there should start a YouTube channel. Everyone out there should start a weekly newsletter and start building their community. And I started sharing and blogging, which is I kind of would say my real start of business when in 2000, I was 18. And I've had previous stuff than that, but that was when I first started putting things out publicly. And that, I think it's been one of the greatest blessings in my life, Jeremy, where, sorry, Omar, I was talking to someone else's a jury You said Jeremy, brother, I apologize. Yeah, yeah. Okay. And so I think

2:38.4

blogging has been one of the greatest indirect blessings of my life in terms

2:43.3

of the people I met Tim Ferriss. I met him and we become friends and

2:46.0

Ramit Sethi and all these amazing people and Neville from copywriting

2:48.6

course and just starting that was my

2:51.0

business journey. And it was just kind of sharing my experiences and things I'm observing. And it's also kind of a cool diary, you know, going back in time and saying, oh, wow, like I used to write like shit and I'm still writing like shit, but it's a little bit better. And you know, that just kind of got me inspired and it got me going, sort of building in a community, a garden of an audience.

2:48.9

And that was helpful as I've built up other businesses,

2:51.7

people I've had. And, you know, that just kind of got me inspired and it got me going, sort of building a community, a garden of an audience.

3:08.4

And that was helpful as I built up other businesses, people I met, I worked with. And when I have products, I can create it. I had an audience that I could share that with. So the other thing. Go ahead. Well, I'd say the other thing that is a part of that is I think for a lot of people,

3:06.4

I think what I message resonates is if you're young and you're like, well, I don't have an audience.

3:10.4

I don't have

3:26.9

an audience.
