Earlier this week, I did a little archival digging, just to remind myself of a moment

that seems quaint now, antiquated, the moment when girl bosses were on the rise, and girl bosses

wanted more girl bosses by their side.

And the problem is this.

Women are not making it to the top of any profession anywhere in the world.

This is Cheryl Sandberg, 15 years back when she was C.O.O. of Facebook.

She's giving a TED Talk, why we have two few women leaders.

This would later become her book, Lean In.

I think a world that was run where half of our countries and half of our companies were run by women would be a better world.

And it's not just because people would know where the women's bathroom are,

even though that would be very helpful.

I think it would be a better world.

Sanberg's earnestness is striking to me now, because just a few days ago, I scrolled over to the New York Times, and I ran into this headline.

Did women ruin the workplace?

Once I picked my jaw up off the floor, I called someone I like and respect a lot to talk about what's going on here.

Daniel Kurtzleben over at NPR.

All I remember is I rolled over in bed and checked my phone, I think, because I had gotten up to pee.

And I saw the, I saw the headline and I just, I went, Jesus Christ.

And then I blacked out.

I mean, they quickly changed the headline to, did liberal feminism ruin the workplace?

But is that better?

Okay, it took them a couple of hours.
