My guest today is a comedian who started off at the Royal Shakespeare Company before becoming an internationally acclaimed ventriloquist.

0:47.4

And she's just written her first feature film.

It's Nina Conti, and here are a five brilliant things.

0:59.0

Look at those.

1:00.0

They are discreet.

1:01.0

It's kind of worryingly so. It's a little bit. There was that film from the sort of 90s sliver.

1:05.0

Do you remember? I think they had cameras in houses and the, it was like Alec Baldwin was kind of watching you remember when

1:12.8

you used to get like you'd get videos and there would be the previews of the films at the

1:16.9

beginning of the video yeah yeah so it was one of those remember seeing it from we had a

1:20.7

from the film Legends of the Fall which we watched lots of family and then slither was quite

1:25.2

sexy and bit weird to watch as a family. Yeah, yeah, I love that. But we're of a similar age. We know. We're a bit older. But you must remember that kind of the videotape era. Yes, I do. You know, and the excitement of going to like blockbusters and picking. Do you know what I mean? I know. It added an extra bit to your night which was out. Yeah. Well that's it. And you got to shoot that first moment that you were allowed to pick the film for the family. God, that was exciting. Yeah. And they used to have those sort of cartoons. Hello, by the way, Nina. Hello. Hello. A weird way of starting. What. What a raspy hello I just gave you. How are you? I am good. I'm good. Great. I'm feeling well. And the sun's out. It is so nice. Just around the corner, there's loads of kind of water fountains. I don't know if you live near here, but during the summer, all the kind of water fountains. and there's like little kids that just run through it. Yeah, I love those. So there's just sort of holes in the ground that you can surprise you. Yeah, and just there is no finer place to be. They're just seeing little kids screaming and running through water. I know. Why don't we do it? Because you'd be cold later. It's fun, well, it's often like, there can't do as an adult. You sort of do that straight away like and the level of success that you're at, you do that, you're going to make the papers. Do you know what I mean? It's like, do you see what Nina Conno is doing? She's running around in the fountains. I don't know. I think she's changed a bit. It's really a shame. She seemed happy and then she chased a pigeon. And then she just got burped for a bit and was very happy. What is your first brilliant thing? My first brilliant thing is the density of the nucleus of an atom. Okay, we're going straight into... The first time that we've had that on the show.

3:09.3

Is it? Is it? First time.

3:11.4

No, I kind of found out about it recently

3:13.9

and it brought a sense of wonderment that hasn't gone away.

3:17.5

And I think you can tap into it at any point

3:19.9

because it's so extreme.

How did I not know this?
