Capitol Chronicle. Nikki, good morning. You have been busy. There is so much going on.

Yes. It's been a ridiculously busy week or two, but breaking lots of stories.

Yeah, I want to start with what's going on with the Indiana toll road in the deal, twice yearly hikes for $700 million.

Let's talk about that.

What do you know?

Yeah, so under the current toll road lease, they can raise rates once a year the higher of basically

inflation or 2%. Obviously recently, it's been higher than 2%. And now this new amendment allows them to

raise them twice a year for the higher of one and a half percent or inflation.

So clearly they're going to be able to collect more money from drivers, and it's on all vehicles.

And in exchange, Indiana gets $700 million in three installment payments that they can use

toward infrastructure around the Barris Stadium

if we get the Barrett Stadium.

Yeah, what happens if we don't get the Barrett Stadium?

They're still going to follow through with this?

Yeah, I mean, the amendment is set.

The Indiana Finance Authority approved it, and legislators have to review it at

Budget Committee on Thursday, though they, you know, it was lawmakers who put that bit in the

stadium bill in the first place. So obviously they agree with it. And yeah, if the bears don't

happen, we're still getting $700 million and it can still go into these seven counties.

I guess they just find other infrastructure or transportation to spend it on or move it somewhere else.

You know, that would be up to the lawmakers in the next budget session, I guess.
