Summary

Dan and Nick engage in a fun exercise where they use a snake draft format to selected a full roster of players (then some; extra DBs, rotational pass rushers, TEs for 12 personnel, etc) to compete against each other in a theoretical game. The objective was to build the best team to face the opponent's team. There is some great game theory discussion involved and a ton of discussion on some of the best prospects at each position in the 2023 class. Learn more about your ad choices. Doin, as always, my call is Nick Bolado.

0:13.0

Today, we're here to do something fun with the draft on its way.

0:16.2

What Nick and I are going to do today is a little exercise where we will be drafting the best possible team we

0:21.8

can come up with from the 2023 NFL draft board. Now, what we will be doing is a mock draft,

0:28.4

but it will be a snake draft. I'll make a pick or Nick will make a pick. Then the next two picks

0:33.0

will go to the other person and the next to the other person and so on and so forth. And while we are

0:36.7

drafting the best possible team from who is available, we will also be drafting to fit a specific scheme and system that we will reveal later, because quite frankly, we'll be based on who we draft. And we'll be drafting to compete against each other. So view it as like the Giants versus the Eagles, right? The Giants are drafting

0:54.3

certain players because they know within their division, they have to beat the Eagles. They have to find a way to block this player, Jordan Davis, whoever it may be, right? So they need a certain kind of player. So we'd be drafting against each other as well. So I don't know if there's any, this was your idea, Nick, and it was a great one, by the way. So do you have anything else I miss there that you want to kind of go over before to give people a little like idea of what we're

0:54.0

about to do? Yes, so we will be drafting a 10 personnel team, 13 personnel team. So it will be three tight ends. It will be four wide receivers. And we're also going to be drafting just extra defenders because in the NFL, it's kind of positionless, as we know,

1:25.4

at Wink Martindale. So we will be having three tight ends. You will only have to select one quarterback. So it's not like you're just going to be selecting a bunch of quarterbacks, which adds a certain level of strategy to this entire thing. So those are, I think, the parameters. I think the audience understands it. And I'm looking forward to having some fun, bro. Let's throw a second running back into the mix, too.

1:26.8

So we have like a compliment style.

1:27.1

Okay.

1:45.4

So we're going to's throw a second running back into the mix, too.

1:46.8

So we have like a compliment style.

1:47.1

Okay.

1:49.7

So we're going to also add a second running back into the mix on fly. All right, Nick. So let's determine who has the first pick or who is a actually what we're going to do this. Whoever wins this coin toss.

1:41.4

I'm about to do, it's going to get their option of not just the first pick.
