You see, Gerard Mayo had to step back his, we're going to burn some cash comment.

I did see that.

Of course he did.

He had, or Karen Gereeum of Mass Live had an exclusive, apparently, with Gerard Mayo off to the side and asked him about that, you know, about that

comment about burning some cash that he had on the EI.

Basically, writes Karen, he pumped the brakes, backtracking from the remark.

You know, I kind of misspoke when I said, burn some cash.

But I was excited when you see those numbers, Mayo told Mass Live,

shortly after finishing a small group session with the local media.

But when you reflect on those numbers, you don't have to spend it all in one year.

He said, you don't have to spend all of it in one year.

He said, this is going to be a process, he added. So I don't want people to think, you got $60 million, $70 million, whatever. So let's go get this guy, that guy, that guy. It may work for a couple of games or maybe a season, but it won't work long term, end quote. It seems like somebody got a little tap on the shoulder from the people upstairs. And how's it really any different than, well, I mean, I know he's one of the owners, but this is like similar to what Tom Werner said with full throttle. Like, oh, no, no, we're going to spend, baby, like, here we go. Oh, no, no, that's not what I meant. No, this is going to be spread out over years, and this is just a misconception.

Well, in this case, well, I mean, maybe they're comparable. I mean, Warner, you think, would be in a position to actually say that. Correct. He's an owner. You know, this is just an employee saying, yeah, we're going to spend some money, and the owner's tapping him on the shoulder and saying, no. But maybe Warner is subservient to Henry, and Henry had to say, no, we're not.

At the very least, there's some discourse there, right? I mean, but I'll tell you what, I'm much more willing that maybe this is just my bias, but I'm much more willing to give Mayo slack than I am Werner. He's a first time coach who'd been on the job for what, two days when he said it? Like, okay, so when the owner said, hey, slow down. Okay, I know you're excited about the gig, okay? But like, let's slow down. And, you know, Werner was a totally different thing. They had hired the GM. The team's been taking heat for not spending. Like, you know, when I say, Murray, you know, I understand your point.
