Summary

Stew and Bruce have takeaways from the 2023 NFL Draft and transfer portal window:

Texas A&M only has had two players drafted in the 1st and 2nd round since Jimbo took over in Aggieland. Is this an indictment on the coach that makes $95 million?

Kirby Smart has helped turned Georgia into a NFL factory. The Dawgs have the most picks in the last three years.

Stanford and Northwestern both sent players to the pros after being two of the worst teams in college football last season.

The Titans moved up to select Will Levis at #33 overall. Was the QB market oversaturated in 2023? Is that why Michael Penix Jr. stayed at Washington? Where will Caleb Williams get picked in 2024?

Notre Dame QB Tyler Buchner lands at Alabama in the transfer portal.

Colorado is down to less than 20 players from last year's roster as Deion Sanders follows through. Will this work or did Coach Prime over-play his hand?

Mailbag questions on the new ACC without divisions, rushing the field & college football playoff expansion.

Welcome back to the latest edition of the Audible, presented by Trader Joe's. I'm Bruce Feldman.

0:22.9

Joined as always by my colleague, Stuart Mandel. We are taping this Sunday night.

0:28.8

Tomorrow morning, I'm flying to Arizona for conference meetings. The Pack 12, Big 12, some version of a Big 10, Mountain West, and Mac, I believe will be there.

0:40.9

So a lot of people who are around work in college football, as well as college basketball,

0:45.6

will be there.

0:46.8

But Stu, we just concluded another NFL draft, started Thursday night.

0:52.1

I think this is one of the more interesting drafts I remember in

0:54.9

recent years. I don't want to say I was riveted to it, but I probably did not miss that much.

1:01.7

I had to leave for my son's football team for an hour and a half on Friday, and that was about it.

1:07.4

How much did you end up watching? I watched Thursday night the whole first round.

1:13.3

The little bit of the second round, though, then I kind of switched my attention to Warriors Kings

1:18.0

game six. And then Saturday morning, we had a softball game. By the time we got back, it was kind of

1:22.9

mid-sixth round, I think. And at that point, you might as well just follow on Twitter.

1:33.3

But I was interested in a lot of the nuggets that come out once the draft is over and or a couple I wanted to bring up, but just spur of the moment here, why did you say this is one of

1:37.2

the most riveting drafts you can remember? Well, first of all, you had four quarterbacks

1:42.0

sitting in the mix.

1:55.4

And we wrote a lot about this at The Athletic about Will Levis and maybe the mock draft folks were a little higher on them than some of the coaches and personnel people were.

2:20.3

But one of the things that really stood out to me was the Anthony Richardson Factor, and I wrote about this in my takeaways column on the Athletic Sunday, which was I'd say probably 10 years ago, maybe even as recently as like four years ago, I think there would be increasing skepticism about whether somebody who didn't play a ton or didn't have a ton of success, even at a high level, but, you know, completed in a mid-50

2:28.0

range, which isn't exactly jaw-dropping, you look at and go, ooh, how's this going to work?

2:35.9

But given the remarkable success,

2:40.0

Josh Allen has had,

2:41.6

but even some of the success you've seen
