This is the New World Report. I'm John Batchewith, my colleague Joseph Humair, Executive Director

Security Society, Ernesto Ruhu, former Foreign Minister of the Republic of Brazil. We

go to Columbia. Why? Because Columbia is at the center of many controversies these

last weeks. Moves notably right now, the detentions in Ecuador following the assassination

of the presidential candidate V. Vincentio were dominated by Colombian nationals. No one

at this point has made a full explanation, but it very much resembles to my reading as

an amateur outsider, as similar to the arrests that followed the assassination of a prosecutor

in Columbia on an island where he was vacationing with his wife. The shooters were not Colombians,

or outside Columbia, I believe they were from Brazil, looking like hired guns. And that's

what it looks like in Keto. So I go to Joseph who's traveling. He's in Columbia. Joseph,

the Colombian story is invariably it comes to the center of everything. Gustavo Petro is

in trouble with an investigation as to where he received funds. The allegation is that

he received outside funds during his presidential candidate. His son recently detained for money

laundering. The news says that his son has confessed to using some of the money for his

father's campaign. The news also says that right now, Columbia is doing very little to help

with the flow of migrants, the overwhelming flow of migrants that must pass through Columbia

to reach Panama and head to the American border. You're in Columbia. What are the big stories

about Petro now? Is it personal investigation? Is it his son's detention? Is it the trouble

in Ecuador, the gangs, the cartels? What dominates the news, Joseph?

So John, I think the main thing that is, I mean, just say the news is kind of in the air

here in Bogota and Columbia is the level of insecurity that's increasing. Increasing on

multiple levels is increasing on the streets with robberies and extortions and assaults and
