This is the New World Report. Mexico. This is striking. Amlo is the very popular, very powerful president of Mexico.

Within these last days, an unusual statement from Reuters.

Mexican President leaks purported details of political rivals finances.

Mexican President Amlo made public a document purporting to reveal the business dealings of a leading opposition politic politician who is vying to succeed him next year.

Fromting the politician whose name is Galvez to accuse the president of abuse of power and threatened legal action.

Reuters adds it could not verify the authenticity of the information.

Professor, this is Marina, a all-powerful party.

I've understood right now that Amlo, popular and powerful, has a voice in choosing his successor, which he intends to be from the Marina party.

Senator Galvez does not represent anything so powerful.

Is this a genuine contest then, leaking a document like this in the United States would have been seen as punching down

if the Galvez organization is not considered viable? Is it viable?

Well, this is certainly going to be a dirty and ugly contest as we go to words of the June 2024 elections in Mexico.

And probably a little bit more sharply contested than previously looked to be the case.

And I think what this also shows is both the president is going to use his bully pulpit as he's done in other areas,

as well as the full weight of the Morena political machine to try to make sure that they stay on top.
