U.S. Army War College Strategic Studies Institute, is here to begin with the Russian flotilla and what it tells us about the

Americas right now with Russia and China binding together their alliance and acting either in concert or effectively

alone in South America and Central America.

I begin with the reporting that we have from the Miami Herald via McClatchi.

The ships involved are a Russian flotilla led by the missile frigate Admiral Gorskov, a nuclear power submarine

Kazan, oil tanker, passion, and salvagedag Nikolai Chicker. However, we have the names of the American

and Canadian ships now that have been in some fashion reacting, responding, and tracking the Russian flotilla.

USS Truxton, USS Donald Cook, USS Delbert Black.

Those are Arley Burke destroyers, meaning there are a lot of firepower, their battleships.

Coast Guard cutter stone, Boeing P8 maritime patrol aircraft.

In other words, everything's buzzing in the Caribbean.

Also, I mentioned that the Canadian frigate is named

His Majesty's Canadian ship Ville de Quebec.

All of this movement, now we are reporting that the Russian submarine the Kazan

is heading back north to the Atlantic presumably back to its home in Russia. The surface ships, however, are

reported headed south. The assumption is they're headed south to Venezuela. Now I come to the question, what does Havana gain from this

display? What does Caracas gain from this display? What does Bogota gain from this
