former Foreign Minister of the Republic of Brazil,

and Joseph, whom our Executive Director of Free Society, we begin in Colombia.

These last days, there's been news out of Colombia that is puzzling.

First, the news is that Gustavo Petro, the new president, has cut off diplomatic relations

with the state of Brazil, the state of Israel, very odd, and it doesn't go anywhere, there will be more explanations.

And then we have remarks suggesting that there's a narco-state within Colombia that operates quite separate from the Colombian government.

Odd again because Gustavo Petro has made peace with drug gangs a lead part of his administration.

And then we have the question of Columbia's stability overall.

How is it doing in the mix of all these states,

Venezuela's next door, the revival of November? the

of all these states, Venezuela is next door, as a revival of narco-terrorism,

certainly the domination of the left of center.

Joseph, I begin with you because you've traveled to Columbia in these last years. You were on the

border with Venezuela when there was violence there. Now I can't tell if the violence has

abated or of Gustavo Petro has a mixed relationship with the men with guns.

How do you measure Columbia today?

Certainly the cutting off of diplomatic relations with Israel

is a new and harsh Columbia good
