to comment on the Americas beginning with the border with Mexico.

The news here is both tragic and deep.

Mexican prosecutors have launched criminal proceedings against top immigration officials

as they investigate a fire that killed 40 migrants in a detention center last month.

The people include the head of Mexico's National Migration Institute and the agency's top

representatives in the Northern state of Chihuahua where the fire occurred.

There is a comparable attention of the trouble along the border being generated at least by

the long wait, by the uncertainty of whether you're going to receive a hearing as of the

U.S. as sanctuary, the crowding, the overrunning detention centers.

All of this comes to this tragic affair where 40 people died in a fire, perhaps because

they were locked in.

The investigation is underway.
