New World Report, an election critical in the northern triangle of Central America, Guatemala.

The choice is, however, require explication, because while we have a runoff now, later

on in August between the unknown and come from behind and surprise our avalanche and the

former First Lady Sandra Torres, there's much to say of the way the election was conducted

and what it might turn out to be going forward in the contest between the elite families

and the populist candidates.

Professor Evan Ellis of the U.S. Army War Coges here to help me understand Guatemala

and all the other elections that are underway or anticipated in the Americas.

The surprise was a man named Aravalo who came from well behind in the polling.

I believe he had 3% before Election Day and he is now in a runoff with Sandra Torres, the First Lady.

Let's begin with Sandra Torres because her strength was expected.

Is she associated in any fashion with those elite families I've read about

who control Guatemala for many decades?
