Institute. Three elections. One done, that would be Guatemala, Aravalo, a government brat, a man who has skills

in the capital city, is now president-elect. Within these next days he's to be inaugurated. However,

Professor I read that because the party that nominated him and that he

listed on the ballot for the presidency has now been declared finally and completely illegitimate, fraudulent.

Therefore, there have been questions raised about Arvalho's legitimacy these many weeks, this long transition that Kuala Mala goes through.

The inauguration is now in train and there are important invitations out for people to attend at the same time.

And yet I read the suggestion that Arvala will remain fragile even if he is inaugurated.

Who are, what are the forces against the President-elect?

Well, John, the Guatemala has long had the significant power by relatively conservative of elites,

although you've had alternation of different parties in power.

And that was certainly borne out to end the recent election on June 25th of last year.

This is one of the longest transitions in Latin American politics leading up to what will

be the almost certain 14 January inauguration of Aravalo.

As you pointed out, again, the Conservative elites used their influence in judicial organizations as well as is in the

Attorney General's office in other two initially to try to eliminate certain candidates

in those elections who were seen as is threatening to them and then one certain candidates

only pushed a reformist candidate, Arvalho and his media party,

then there were all types of machinations to both invalidate the power of Samia, and then of course Arvalo himself.
