The New World Report, we turn to Central America, why? Well, the border is an explanation for almost all

of the crises of immigration entirely. To my knowledge, the transfer from China or Afghanistan or West Africa or Venezuela

is without obstacle from Colombia to Panama to Costa Rica and on north to the

Mexican border. It's continuing and growing. Reports in these last days I've had from the Darien Gap is that

3,000 a day can come through easily. Many Chinese nationals that was not the

case a year ago or two years ago

all flowing to the American southern border

that making Central America a major piece of the future for any negotiating to do with immigration.

You will recall the Northern Triangle.

Well, the professor and I are going to turn to the Northern Triangle now because it's in the news.

Professor, we begin with El Salvador quickly to say that Bukale is successful in his campaign

having extended his presidency another term he was overwhelmingly elected and I see the news is that his party enjoys a veto-proof majority in the legislature.

This looks like a model that other states and the Central America might follow, although

I'm sure the model has more specifics, but it looks

like he arrested tens of thousands.

The murder rate plunged, as you reported a week ago, is Bukele now regarded as a success in Central America given his

always his tendency to be exciting?

Well I think there are various different looks at Bukelli from outside the region.

Certainly, his dramatic success in reducing violence in El Salvador wants 104 murders per 100,000 just about a decade ago to something like two murders per 100,000 making El Salvador, the safest country in the region technically outside of Canada.

So you have other governments like Ecuador, like Honduras, who have their own problems looking

at that.
