And there is a melodrama in Brazil spilling out that is surprisingly similar to one that we're

witnessing in the United States.

Sao Paulo, Reuters in these last hours, Brazilian police released a report, formerly accusing former President Hire Bolsonaro,

an icon of the global far-right movement of plotting a coup attempt to stop rival Lula

de Silva from taking office.

The report is a blow to Bolsonaro's plans to run for president in 2026, says Reuters is in an

understatement.

There is also suggestion in the reporting that there was an assassination plot as part of the

coup.

It's very much a melodrama.

It reads like a melodrama.

At the same time, there's some twists here.

One is that leading in the investigation and authority for this police report is a man named

Alexander de Marais.

You've heard his name before.
