The other great giant in the Americas is Brazil.

We begin, however, with a very small piece of the story of

Latin America. This is in the islands of Trinidad and Tobago, a news report that connects to Joseph's

concerns about the very small but suddenly very prosperous Guyana. National Security Minister

Fitzgerald Hines of Trinidad and Tobago

signed off on five agreements with the United States, two of which can allow the U.S. Department

of Defense to deploy forces to Trinidad and Tobacco in the event of a, quote, conflict in Venezuela.

Joseph, what conflict? What are they worried about?

Well, it's kind of hard to know the specific concern since the U.S.

government's been very cryptic about Guyana.

But what we do know is that the U.S. government,

particularly the National Security Council, Department of Defense, has visited Guyana

on many occasions this year, probably more occasions than you would think would be normal. And we also know that Guyana has a particular longstanding, but also very

recent concern of Venezuela's military buildup along their border. Going back to about a year ago,

the Maduro regime in Venezuela essentially started escalating a political provocation to essentially

assert what they would declare the sovereignty over the Azequivo.
