I'm John Batsworth, Professor Abinnell, as US Army War College Strategic Studies Institute,

a new president who is an old president in Brazil and remarks by the administration in Paris,

Mr. McCrone, the administration in Berlin, Chancellor Schultz and others, suggests that Brazil

is ready to take its place again in international affairs. Brazil, and indeed, generalizing

the global south, is staying back from committing in the Ukraine war. The sanctions regime, the

disdain of Russian envoys, is not the global south, and the new world is the global south

when it comes to South America and Central America. So, it is not a surprise to me, although

it is to be done, that both Mr. McCrone's speakers and Chancellor Schultz's speakers

indicate they'll be visits early on. Is this normal business in Brazil? I don't recall

Macron and Schultz talking about visiting Bolsonaro, or perhaps they stayed away because

the campaign was underway. Is this a positive that Brazil is ready to be romanced by the European

Union? Well, John, it was clear from even before Bolsonaro left office that the Europeans

were in general not very favorable towards Bolsonaro and far more favorable towards Lula.

Even as a candidate, the Europeans in the way they received Lula almost in a presidential

fashion made that apparent. And indeed, even before the inauguration making a clear, for
