Lula de Silva, the recently elected and inaugurated for the third time President of Brazil

traveling to Beijing on a mission for business, for trade between the two states.

China needs food, Brazil needs everything.

The China can export.

It's a very comfortable relationship.

What is odd is that China is allied with Russia and Russia is the predator of Europe and

a constant threat to peace across the world.

In any event, Lula de Silva returning from Beijing not only invites Xi Jinping to Brazil,

but also hosts a Sergei Lavrov, the foreign minister of Russia, and now speaks of peace

or arbitrating peace in some fashion between Ukraine and Russia.

This is significant only because we're looking for a way to getting to the negotiating table.

Your measure of Lula de Silva right now, Professor, he is on the one hand presenting himself

as a man of peace who can walk between two worlds.

And I understand that.

On the other hand, we have this long story of Brazil hanging back from the conflict in

Europe, both condemning Russia and not participating in the sanctions.

So these are policies that Lula de Silva inherited from Mr. Bolsonaro's ambiguity about

Russia as well in the early days of the war.

Can this be resolved or is Brazil is just going to remain contradictory?
