This is the New World Report. I'm John Batchowith, Ernesto Aura,

0:08.8

Usual Former Foreign Minister of the Republic of Brazil. Just Vumar, the Executive Director

0:13.6

Secure Free Society. We move from the Milan Actors of La Paz and Managua to the mysteries

0:21.0

of Argentina's election cycle. The first round is done. The Patricia Bullrich is stepping

0:29.9

aside, but she has a vital party and dominates the conversation I understand in the Congress

0:36.4

and the Assembly in Buenos Aires. The two lead candidates to face off soon enough for

0:43.0

the presidency are a man named Malai, who's identified as a libertarian, a radical, a

0:49.0

colorful figure in what looks to be a Beatles wig, and a man named Masa, who is the President

0:54.8

Finance Economics Minister, who's identified with a pair of nieces, but not profoundly,

1:01.0

and seems an earnest campaigner. Both men are campaigning hard right now for the final

1:06.7

election. Because in the first round, Masa received about 37%, Malai received about

1:15.0

30%, and Ms. Bullrich was down around 20 or 19. Those votes are free to go to either

1:22.0

of the leading candidates. Ernesto, I come to you because this is a neighbor and also

1:28.9

1:34.5

hard on the basis of solving the financial crisis, which I doubt anyone can solve, given

1:40.0

the depths of debt. Do you at this point have a measure of which one would be more stabilizing

1:46.6

for the region, Masa or Malai? Well, John, Malai would bring change, deep change to

1:55.7

Argentina, I'm probably inspired, very needed change in other countries. So, well, it depends

2:04.3

on what kind of stability we're talking about. If it's bad stability, stability of growing

2:12.3

debt and growing economic problems and growing loss of freedom in the region, well, then Masa

2:21.3

would be for the stability. But I think sometimes we don't need stability, sometimes we need

2:26.9

deep change, even if it means some waves of what we could call instability. Otherwise,
