Argentina markets look to rate cut, crawling peg to add fuel to New Year rally.

The markets in Argentina are responding to the positive news and to the philosophy of Javier Malay, the libertarian. Question is,

will foreign investors show up? What is your measure now? Because part of foreign ministry's

successes is a healthy economy. Is Argentina looking healthier to you?

Oh, definitely, John.

It looks healthier in terms of its domestic arrangements and also international insertion.

Now it's clearly in the Western democratic bloc.

And I think those things must go together.

Economic success in running a free economy together with being part of the free block

and not the totalitarian block.

You cannot have a free market economy if all your economy is dependent on China,

like was more and more the case for Argentina,

like it is more and more the case for Brazil. I talk a lot about China, of course, but it's not

that, I mean, I love the Chinese people. The problem is that more dependency on China means

worse conditions for our democracies in Latin American countries

because China exerts its influence in favor of everything that's corrupt,

everything that's against basic freedoms in our country.

So those things go together.

And Argentina, I think, is a big example.
