0:42.3	Derek, let's start with these Iran-US talks.
0:46.4	Finally, the long-awaited, I guess, U.S. and Iranian negotiations began on Friday in Oman.
0:53.6	This was the first round of theoretically several rounds of
0:57.7	talks to come. They don't, as you would expect from a first round, they don't appear to have
1:03.7	accomplished anything substantive other than to agree to continue the process.
1:15.3	The participants all said the right things afterwards, how productive it had been, and good discussions.
1:17.9	The US team was led by, of course,
1:21.0	the ubiquitous envoys, Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner,
1:23.9	and the Iranian team was led by Foreign Minister Abbas Arachi.
1:27.2	These were indirect talks. They were
1:28.7	facilitated by the Almani foreign ministry, which shuttled in between, had mediators shuttling in
1:34.4	between the two teams, although the principal team leaders did apparently have a brief direct
1:41.0	interaction. This is in keeping with the way that these talks proceeded last year before
1:46.2	the so-called 12-day war when they all fell apart, but they had proceeded in roughly the same
