I'm Jason Epperson, this is RV miles and it's time for the latest in RV and camping news.

Two hurricanes have now wreaked havoc on the southeast and unlike Hurricane Helene which destroyed lots of campgrounds in its path,

the destruction is still yet to be totally quantified.

Hurricane Milton, which hit Florida head-on, largely left campgrounds and RV dealerships unscathed.

It's always hardening to see the campground community pitch in when a hurricane hits.

Many RV parks, state parks, and state fairground campgrounds became free campsites for Florida residents who evacuated during Milton.

And this happens every time.

I know we think of our little camping industry is not so important compared to big events like

hurricanes and it's not but we are housing and a lot of people live in Florida in

our ves a lot of people who live in homes in Florida own RVs.

People also evacuated with their tent camping gear,

and many campgrounds open up their cabins

for free stays for anyone in need

that didn't have camping equipment.

These are times when this industry, particularly in the South,

always comes together.

And that's why I'd like to appeal to you to help out some of those family

campgrounds that have been destroyed,

particularly during Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina,

and if you're somebody who regularly visits those campgrounds, you might consider booking a night

or two at your favorite campground well in advance or even a stay that you can't use.
