Hello and welcome to Amen podcast. We are excited to be starting a new series in Matthew. Alex,

let us know what you're talking about today. How do you make new? How to get the newness of God?

Sin is the searching and lack of finding newness in the wrong places. So when you think about the

garden where the serpent comes up to Eve and says, you should eat of that tree over there. Isn't it

look so shiny and new and cool? Everything was new about the Garden of Eden. Every day was new,

every moment, every second was new because it was sinless. And so there was no death or decay or

brokenness or dirtiness. Everything was new, but the serpent convinced Eve to believe that she

needed newness. And this is the lie that we're falling into every day on Instagram that we're

falling into with the transgender agenda. You need a new sexuality. You need a new boyfriend.

You need a new relationship. You need new money. You need new things. The devil has constantly,

since day one, been trying to tempt us with new, but the good news is that the newness of God

was promised to us and brought about through generation after generation after generation. And

in today's text, as we start Matthew, it's going to be a long journey in Matthew, but we're going to

get so much new things out of it that's going to change you from the inside out. And you're going to

be able to tap into the newness that is already available to you. But this one of the first words

in the first verse of Genesis is genealogy. In genealogy, it means Genesis. So Genesis means

beginning. It means new. And that is what we're talking about, the genesis of Jesus Christ.

He's always been around. He's been around since eternity past because he's the eternal son of God.

But him coming into the world with a physical body was a new thing that Matthew is going to

break down for us and show us because as we look at how Jesus came into the world and the newness

that he was bringing with him and the newness that was inside of him. As we look at that,

we're going to feel and see the newness in us rise up. And so I'm really excited to get into this
