Mayor Alex Zormam Dhani taps 400 New Yorkers to serve on transition committees to advise him on policy and appointments and help him chart a new course for city government.

Many of them new faces. He hopes to bring a new energy and new ideas to a city government

he feels has grown sluggish and stagnant.

New Yorkers have placed a great deal of hope and expectation in this new course that they've elected us to chart.

It is a hope that City Hall can deliver results that make material, tangible changes in the lives of working people across these five boroughs.

The Momdaunee team will have the expected committees on housing, transportation, and public safety to name a few.

But it will also have two committees that have not been part of other mayoral transitions,

one on worker justice, one on community organizing.

These are two critical parts of what it means to be a New Yorker today.

We have workers across the city who have to deal with conditions that should frankly

ashamed us.

Law professor J.C. Polanco says the two committees also show his base, the Democratic Socialists

of America, that he's still committed to the ideals that got him elected, especially after

asking Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch to remain at the NYPD and finding common ground

with President Trump.
