For me the thrill of listening to new music is discovering something that feels

fresh and different. Something expressive. A song that's an adventure. Charlotte

Jacobs music hit me that way. The song is called Where You Want Me To. It's from an

EP that just came out titled The Shape of Wandering. Charlotte is from Belgium

but now based in Brooklyn and here she is to give us more insight into the song.

I wrote the song Where You Want Me To back in my home country, Belgium. Around the

time I was going to leave to start a new life and I was thinking about what

belonging really means to me and what home really means to me. And I guess

the lyrics are a collage of words that I used because they sound nice instead of

what they actually mean. We recorded the song in Brooklyn to get her with

Subin Hensler and with drummer Ruff Verstessen and it's the first time I'm

actually using live drums on a record. I'm usually all into samples and

electronic stuff. It was a very liberating experience. The song is also accompanied

by a video that was directed by James Ross or Barry and we shot this video in

upstate New York in a forest and it features two incredible dancers, Holly Sass

and Joanna Kutze. And I think the video is the perfect visual representation of

the song.
