William Morgan was a man born and Culpeper Virginia from a poor family in 1774, two years before the revolution.

He built himself up as a teenager, apprenticing as a stone cutter, and then later a bricklayer.

After saving up enough money, he opened up his own shop in Richmond.

Not much is known about Morgan's early life, except that he used to tell people he was a captain in the war of 1812.
