Every Wednesday we pick out one article from all the brilliant writing available on the

Athletic and put the authors under the spotlight.

Today we're joined by Michael Walker whose latest article has really piqued our interest

it's called there's something going on in non-league football and it talks

about the really interesting upward trend in the number of match-going fans turning away from the

increasingly detached Premier League and towards their non-league club.

And yeah, it feels like the perfect time to speak about that piece,

especially when we're in a week where Newcastle United fans have been chanting

we've got our club back after it was sold to a Saudi back consortium. So yeah, hopefully there's a lot to

unpack there. Yeah, definitely. And before we chat to Michael, Dan, wondering your thoughts on last night's

England game, probably not the result that many would have hoped for and I think

Gareth the Thalsgate was very honest in his post-match saying he was pretty disappointed with the performance,

but they're still looking very comfortable in that group.

Yeah it's an interesting existence for England at the moment.

It feels like drawing with Hungary, even though we have Poland in our group with Robert Lefendofsky, one of the best strikers in the world,

it still doesn't seem like there's much jeopardy in their qualification campaign.
