Okay, it's now time to contemplate the presence of another ghost.

The destination for this episode is, well, it's a house called the Old Vicarage in

Grandchester, in England, in the United Kingdom of Great Britain.

The old vicarage in Granchester, when Laster Luke was owned by Geoffrey Archer and his family.

But it's the hub, I suppose, around which I'd like to contemplate the Great War, the First World War, between 1914 and 1918, with specific reference to Rupert Brook, the embodiment of gilded youth, described by William Butler Yates as the handsomest man in England.

And he seems to me to epitomise the way in which we're invited to think about at least

some of the young men who were swept up into the maelstrom of the First World War.

And there's a great tragedy in it.

And it's nothing less than haunting.

For those of us of a certain inclination, thoughts of the First World War are, they come at us unexpectedly, but at all times.
