Summary

In the lead-up to October's NBA Draft, the podcast will be adding more episodes to your weekly feed that include breezy but knowledgeable discussions on the biggest and best prospects in the 2020 draft pool. Our second episode of this variety focuses on Obi Toppin, who led Dayton to its best season in school history. Norlander believes Toppin will be the best pro of any player in the 2020 draft, while Parrish is nearly as high on the 22-year-old. And on the topic of his age, it's there that we find the biggest reason for why Toppin isn't regarded as a No. 1 pick by most. Is that justifiable?

Hey there, it's Gary Parish. Welcome back to the CBS Sports Eye on College basketball

0:08.8

podcast where we sometimes discuss camel fighting and leaky black Mad Norlander is here with

0:14.6

me and as previously noted over the next few weeks possibly months, we're going to be doing

0:20.0

short episodes that focus on the top prospects available in the 2020 NBA draft. What we're

0:26.5

going to do is just take them in the order that I have them right now in my latest

0:30.4

mock draft. So we started with Lamello ball and today we will focus on Obediah Richard

0:37.4

Toppin, Dick Toppin. Could be Dick Toppin but he goes by Oby. Norlander, this is my first

0:43.2

question. Yes. If you had the options of going by Oby Toppin or Dick Toppin, what would

0:47.7

you do? I think I'd be Dick Toppin. I know what I like Oby Toppin. I do like Oby. I

0:53.6

would be my choice but I tell you what, you give me 100 guesses that Oby Dio Toppin's

0:58.7

middle name. I don't know if I'm landing on Richard there. I'm guessing potentially a father

1:02.5

grandfather uncle situation there. It is an interesting comment like, okay, so Oby Dio Toppin,

1:07.5

that's awesome. Richard Toppin, fine. You wouldn't really expect Oby Dio and Richard

1:11.8

to be next to each other. It's not a common, it's not a common

1:14.1

combination right there. Not by any means, but you know what, this is what I've mentioned

1:18.2

this before on a previous podcast. I love college basketball because you can wind up

1:21.3

having the best student in the sport named Oby Toppin. You know, it's just every year,

1:26.4

just an off the beaten path kind of name here. Hey, man, this is an interesting one. So

1:30.4

we did Lamella Ball. He was your number as previously noted as listeners will note,

1:35.8

he was number one in your mock draft. Now you have Oby Toppin number two. We are much,

1:41.5

much closer, much closer with with with Oby Dio than we are with Lamella, whereas I had

1:48.1

Lamella 7th on my overall big board. Oby Toppin is number one on my list here. I think
