listeners of the podcast know that every few months we run an episode devoted entirely

to national security with four experts, so that means that as in past similar episodes

I'm out of this one in favor of the always splendid and knowledgeable Frank Figley-Uzi who

welcomes a great group of national security experts.

We could not have chosen a worst day of news or a more vital day for expert analysis.

Lincoln friends have convened on the most gruesome and most important day in national security

in several years, namely the very day of the Kabul airport bombings.

They spend the first half of their discussion focusing on Afghanistan and the impact, our

withdrawal and the exploitation of it by terrorists will have on homeland security and national

security.

In the second half of this episode they discuss the rally of the former president in Coleman,

Alabama, where Trump was booed by the audience when he encouraged them to get a COVID vaccine,

as well as the news that the January 6th select committee has issued a broad request for

records as it goes about investigating the violence.

So let me now turn the mic over to Frank to start the discussion on this very grim and
