Summary

Today, I am blessed to have here with me Nat Niddam. She is a self-proclaimed science geek with a passion for human health. Nat is a Certified Holistic Nutritionist, an Epigenetic Coach and a member of the first graduating class of the Human Potential Training Institute. In her teens, she fought with ongoing health and digestive issues. She learned many years later to tap into her body’s own healing and repair mechanisms and now wants to share her knowledge to help others take control of their health. Nat’s unique method blends an array of human performance fields like neuroscience, personalized nutrition, nutraceuticals, biohacking, ancestral health and resilience training. She works with clients one-on-one and in small groups to tap into each person’s unique genetic code to personalize supplementation, nutrition and lifestyle in order to deliver results that last for a lifetime. When Nat came across Peptides and Bioregulators her focus narrowed and she leaned into learning all that she could about these incredible compounds that can trigger the body’s healing mechanisms and even reverse Biological Age! She now educates her clients as well her large and growing community on the podcast and the Optimizing Superhuman Performance Facebook Community on these powerful signalling molecules and how they may apply to their own journey. Nat is also the host of the Biohacking Superhuman Performance podcast featuring cutting edge guests in the field of Longevity, Health Optimization and, of course, Biohacking. In this episode, Nat embarks on a peptide journey, unraveling the legacy of these molecules embraced by bodybuilders for decades. Nat's insights offer a witty yet profound guide through the intricate world of peptides, blending history with contemporary health considerations. She explains the best ways to utilize peptides and covers various types. Plus, we dive into the FDA regulations and how this can impact their usage, especially those with autoimmune disorders. Tune in as we chat about unlocking the fountain of youth, the impact of organ meats, and the importance of finding quality sources. Free Detox Masterclass. [19:00] Exploring the Long-Standing Legacy of Peptides - Peptides have been in use for a long time, with a community of individuals, especially bodybuilders, being early adopters and enthusiasts in the peptide world. Some individuals claim to have been using peptides for decades. - Nat provides a definition of peptides as small proteins consisting of 50 amino acids or fewer. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, and peptides play a role in various biological processes. - There is a subset of peptides called bioregulator peptides, which are extremely small (2 to 4 amino acids). These peptides have the unique ability to cross cellular membranes and reach the nucleus of the cell. - Nat expresses frustration with the nomenclature of peptides, highlighting that the names can be confusing and challenging to navigate. [29:15] Peptide Wisdom: Exploring Efficient Delivery, Potency, and Regulatory Changes - Nat suggests that the most efficient way to take peptides is through subcutaneous injection, similar to insulin injections used by diabetics. This method involves injecting the peptide into the layer of fat just beneath the skin using a small insulin needle. - Nat shares a personal experience with using oxytocin as a peptide, highlighting the remarkable and powerful effects even with small amounts. She describes feeling physiological responses such as flushing, pressure in the ears, and a unique sensation in the head within a minute of application. - Nat emphasizes the importance of respect and caution when using peptides, as they are endogenous to the human body and carry significant potency. - Plus, Nat discusses the evolving landscape of peptides and mentions recent FDA regulations. [41:00] Optimizing Peptide Effectiveness - Nat uses the analogy of peptides being like work crews coming in to do the work in a house. However, for the peptides to be effective, the environment needs to be conducive, and the analogy emphasizes the importance of addressing underlying issues before expecting optimal results. - She highlights the tendency of people to focus on adding solutions without considering the need to remove obstacles first. Nat stresses the importance of clearing the terrain and addressing existing issues, infections, or distractions that may hinder the effectiveness of peptides. - Nat discusses recent FDA regulations affecting the availability of certain peptides. - She mentions the potential challenges faced by people with autoimmune conditions or specific infections who rely on these peptides for positive health impacts. [45:30] Mastering Peptide Balance - Nat explains the difference between taking exogenous growth hormone (which requires a prescription and may lead to a negative feedback loop) and using growth hormone secretagogues. The latter class of peptides signals the brain to produce and release more of the body's own growth hormone without the same risk of shutting down natural production. - The concern with peptides, particularly growth hormone secretagogues, is the potential for receptors to become numb or involute. - Nat emphasizes the importance of cycling peptides, taking breaks, and not overdoing them. By doing so, individuals can avoid the negative feedback loop and maintain the effectiveness of the peptides. - Nat emphasizes the need for smart and informed use of peptides, with a focus on avoiding potential issues such as receptor numbness and negative feedback loops. [47:50] Unlocking the Fountain of Youth: Bioregulator Peptides for Age Reversal - Nat introduces the concept of bioregulator peptides, emphasizing their role in age reversal and geroprotection. - These peptides are designed to promote healthy aging and may have anti-tumor properties, contributing to the prevention of diseases associated with aging. - Nat mentions epitalon, a bioregulator peptide derived from the pineal gland, which is believed to have anti-tumor properties. - Plus, Nat discusses GHK copper peptide, a unique peptide with only three amino acids. - GHK copper activates over 4,000 genes and is known for its wide range of applications. It has notable benefits for the skin, such as upregulating collagen and elastin production, reducing scarring, and aiding in wound healing. [52:00] The Power of Bioregulators Sourced from Animal Organs and the Ancestral Tradition of Optimal Organ Nutrition - Nat explains that bioregulators when used as supplements or injections, are sourced from the organs of animals. This leads to the insight that consuming organ meats can be a way to provide the body with the specific nutrients and compounds needed for optimal organ function. - Nat highlights the ancestral wisdom of matching organ consumption with specific health needs. - If someone has a heart problem, consuming heart meat may be beneficial. This aligns with traditional practices in ancestral societies where individuals ate various parts of animals to address specific health concerns. - Nat emphasizes that in ancestral societies, organ meats were highly valued and considered the best parts of the animal. While muscle meat was consumed if nothing else was available, organs like the heart, liver, and bone marrow were seen as essential and beneficial for overall health. AND MUCH MORE!
