Summary

Breathing is one of the only conscious and unconscious systems of our body, and being intentional with our breath can have a huge impact on our well-being. In this episode, I’ll share with you the breathwork and breathing techniques I use to not only help me heal from narcissistic abuse but to heal my childhood wounds.

What you will learn in this episode:

  • How to recognise our existing breathing patterns and what they signify.
  • How to shift our nervous system into a state of calm.
  • The difference between breathwork and breathing techniques.

I’ll show you the difference between breathwork and breathing techniques, and a regime for you to follow that will markedly improve your ability to handle your emotions. These are all techniques that I do myself and they are truly life-changing. Not only do they help us reconnect with ourselves after narcissistic abuse, but they also help us tone our vagus nerve to help us heal from our childhood wounds.

Welcome to the narcissistic abuse and trauma recovery podcast. I'm Caroline Stawson and I'll be sharing with you, awareness, understanding and education about the devastating effects of narcissistic abuse. I've been exactly where you are right now. And this podcast is a beacon of hope

0:23.1

for you to know that you are believed, you are seen, you are heard and you are not alone. And my hope

0:30.9

for listening to the podcast is it will help you move from post-traumatic stress to post-traumatic growth after the trauma of narcissistic abuse

0:40.1

because it is possible. You are enough and you deserve to thrive. Hi, my friends, a massive

0:50.1

welcome to the narcissistic abuse and trauma recovery podcast. As always, it's my pleasure to be

0:56.0

here helping and supporting you, move from post-traumatic stress to post-traumatic growth after

1:01.0

narcissistic abuse because it is possible. I know it seems like an impossible task sometimes

1:06.0

and you're in that long, dark tunnel. I know because I have been there. But let me tell you, if you get intentional

1:12.8

about your healing and really work on yourself on a daily basis, like we should all be doing

1:18.7

anyway, not just because of narcissistic abuse, I promise you, there is a light at the end of that

1:24.4

tunnel, but actually beyond all of that, this is the term that we have

1:28.1

called post-traumatic growth, you know, growth because of the trauma that you are experiencing now

1:32.9

because of the narcissist. So firstly, I just want to say, if you can hear a little kind of,

1:38.6

almost like a little growl in the background, my dog is asleep just to the corner of me. And she is flat out. So she's snoring at the background. My dog is asleep just to the corner of me and she is flat out. So she's

1:47.0

snoring at the moment. So if you do hear that in the background, it's not my tummy rumbling or

1:50.8

anything. It's actually my gorgeous little chalky dog who's had a little trim in the last few

1:55.9

days because it's really lovely and warm here in the UK. And she was looking a little bit scraggly. So we've given her a

2:02.9

little trim and she's all nice and gorgeous and fluffy and just sleeping beautifully there. So let's

2:09.2

hope nobody comes to the dog, because otherwise you're going to actually hear her barking as well.

2:12.6

Because although she's a little dog, she thinks she's like Simba from the Lion King or even

2:17.3

Mufasa as well.

2:19.3

So I want to give you another podcast today, really talking to you about breathwork and breathing
