The fights would sometimes devolve into physical altercations that were terrifying to me.

I was an only child, so I think I'm the only person in the world besides them who knows how bad it actually got. To the outside world, we were a very normal family.

When I was six, my grandpa asked me what I wanted most for my birthday.
