My girlfriend refuses to let me meet her family. Now I'm getting suspicious. Why won't you let me meet him? My girlfriend left her ex, 55 male, for me after we met at work. After a few months together, we decided to try living together. We had to rent since we couldn't afford a mortgage. This lasted about six months until the landlord punted us out, and he had a family member in dire need of accommodation, which ended that adventure abruptly. Due to financial reasons and the fact that she's still on the mortgage with her ex, she couldn't leave the house. The ex would have to buy her out, but didn't have the money, talking tens of thousands of pounds. I was able to move back home and I didn't like the experience I'd

had with private rent it. It's pretty much dead end and as experience showed, we could just get

the boot at any moment. As such, we agreed to try and work the relationship with her living,

with her ex, in separate rooms until that point

we had saved enough money for me to take out a mortgage on her own place in my name. So that's how

we've been living for the past few months. I've still never met any of her family and barely any of her

friends other than mutual work friends. Her excuse being that her family are extremely family oriented

and wouldn't approve of the

situations since she still lives with her ex who they all love. This has been a massive issue.

She promised me at the end of 2013 that I would absolutely get to meet the family in 2014.

At this point, she's been three times and they've come down twice and I still have not seen them.

Fast forward to this weekend, the Tour de France was passing through her family's village where she grew up. A couple months back, she mentioned she'd probably go watch. I told her, I'd love to go. As the weekend approached, girlfriend decided she wouldn't go. Money was tight. It's a long trip. Feels expensive. Plus, she's not into cycling and would only be there to say she saw it. Friday morning, I spend with a girlfriend, had booked it off work. She told me she was having a lazy weekend and probably wouldn't leave the house, so she wouldn't see me. Red flag number one. Saturday morning, her Facebook profile picture disappeared from my contacts. I could no longer see her profile at all. She'd vanished. Red flag number two.

I mentioned this and she said it was weird. She'd liked and commented on stuff, but it wasn't showing

on my feed. She'd looked into it when she had time. Up to this point, I'm giving her the benefit of the

doubt. I had no evidence of any wrongdoing, but I had my suspicions. She continued texting

regularly throughout Saturday. Usually when visiting family, she's away most of the day and I barely

hear back. So this calmed my fears. Saturday night, she texted till past 1 a.m. unusual since she's

normally in bed by 10. However, when with her family, they often stay up late, drinking and catching up.

Orangey red flag number three. Naturally, my suspicions got the better of me. I couldn't see her profile,

but knew her family's names. Her brother-in-law had helpfully added photos from the weekend.
